In this issue we spend some very special time with one of our favorite Route 66 artists, Jerry McClanahan, and enjoy learning more about his experiences growing up on the old road and his passions within painting. ROUTE also hangs out with famed actor, Gary Sinise and discovers what lies behind his commitment to wounded veterans. His story and efforts are simply amazing. How many of us have seen the 2006 Pixar film Cars? Have you ever wondered about the backstory and how Route 66 was able to be brought to life on the Big Screen via Lightening McQueen and his friends? Wonder no longer, Nick Gerlich takes us into the story as perhaps never told before. No longer in existence, but certainly not forgotten, the Coral Court Motel in St. Louis lived a life of intrigue, and now that it’s gone, it’s questionable color is still very much alive and shining. Writer Shellee Graham brings us a tale that deserves to be told. It is one of our favorites from the old road. These stories and so much more. We hope that you enjoy this issue, and remember to share it widely! ROUTE Magazine welcomes you on the journey.
